Local company stages party for families
One Wireless and MetroPCS, 455 W. 4th St. in Lorain, welcomed the community during Customer Appreciation Day.
Local residents, youngsters and customers of the cellphone company filled the parking lot June 2 as they were surrounded with activities, prizes, music and fun.
Also, staff closed up shop a few hours early for guests to enjoy a photo booth and ice cream provided by the company at no admission.
And a free raffle was offered for a chance to win prizes provided by the W. 4th Street shop.
Some of the prizes included children’s bicycles, Nintendo DS
game systems and a smart television.
Guests had the option of signing up for any raffle prize they wanted and winners were called by the end of the event.
Moe Hawk, owner of all seven Lorain One Wireless and MetroPCS locations, said the event is meant to give back to the community.
He and his employees want to support their customers because of the support they receive from them, he said.
The W. 4th Street location was the first MetroPCS location to come to Lorain about 11 years ago, Hawk said.
With the help of their customers, Lorain One Wireless and Metro PCS expanded into other Lorain locations.
The company holds at least four to five events with giveaways at different locations for the community every year, he said.
Some other events are held near Christmas, Thanksgiving and around the time students head back to school.
Hawk said the company wants the community to know that they are there for them.
“Even if they’re not our customers, I still want to appreciate the city of Lorain,” he said.
Rosa Belize Bautista of Lorain came to Customer Appreciation Day with her family for the first time.
Bautista said she found out about the event after paying her bill at the W. 4th Street location.
She said she thought it would be something fun to do in the community; adding that it’s rare to see a cellphone company become so engaged with their customers.
“I think it’s awesome,” she said. “I think they’re making a difference.”
Bautista said she participated in the raffle for the Smart TV and Nintendo DS game systems.
“Mo Mo” Nazer, the district manager of Lorain locations, said the company likes to stage events that can bring good will.
“The smile on these guy’s faces is what we look for,” Nazer said. “They are priceless.”
He said these events aren’t possible without the help of customers.
“This is our main concern,” he said. “Without (the customers), we don’t grow. Without the Metro team, we don’t have a good foundation. Without the Metro employees, we don’t have a family.”
The Lorain One Wireless and MetroPCS locations will continue to have giveaways for their customers throughout the rest of the year, Nazer said. They will be providing Roverfest tickets at their Colorado Avenue location and are looking forward to the event.
