Grammy-award winner appears in October at Pearls of Wisdom annual benefit and dinner
Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter Judy Collins, famous for creating music of hope and healing that speaks to the heart, will be the keynote speaker at the 2018 The LCADA Way Pearls of Wisdom Annual Benefit and Recognition Dinner, according to a news release.
The dinner is Oct. 25 at the Emerald Event Center, 33040 Just Imagine Drive in Avon, the release said.
The LCADA Way, a private, nonprofit organization that serves Lorain and Medina counties and surrounding communities, is recognized as a proven leader in wellness and addiction recovery since 1981, according to the release.
Since the 1960s, Collins has inspired audiences with sublime vocals, boldly vulnerable songwriting, personal life triumphs and a commitment to social activism, evoking both idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices.
Over five decades later, Collins’ pres- ence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her 50-album body of work, heed inspiration from her spiritual discipline to entertain and thrive, said the release.
“We are very excited to have Judy Collins as the keynote speaker at our annual benefit and recognition dinner”, said Thomas D. Stuber, president and CEO of The LCADA Way. “Her personal experiences, esteemed career and story of addiction triumph and recovery will be sure to inspire all.”
Collins, now 79, is as creatively vigorous as ever, singing, writing, touring worldwide and nurturing fresh talent, said the release.
She remains an accomplished painter, filmmaker, record label head, musical mentor, an in-demand keynote speaker for mental health, recovery and suicide prevention.
