Dinner, bake sale: A Chicken Paprikas Carry-out Dinner and Bake Sale will be from 1-3 p.m. June 30 at the Hungarian Reformed Church, 1691 E. 31st St., Lorain. Dinners consist of ¼ chicken, two stuffed cabbage rolls, dumplings and gravy at $14 per dinner. Also available are Dumplings and Gravy and Haluska at $5 per 1-pound container each. When placing orders, specify white or dark meat. An assortment of pastries, including palacsinta, will also be for sale. Orders may be placed with the church office, 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, by calling 440-277-8177. Deadline for placing orders is June 25. If you leave a message, the call will be confirmed with a return call. Men’s, Women’s Day celebrated: Second Baptist Church, 300 13th St., Lorain, will celebrate the annual Men’s and Women’s Day at 11 a.m., June 10, at the 11 a.m. service. Elder Ruth Pugh will be the speaker. Everyone is invited to attend. Free health screenings: Second Baptist Church, 300 13th St., Lorain, will host a Free Health Screening with Mercy Health Ministry/Parish Nursing Program, 9 a.m. to noon, June 16. Catholic Golden Agers meeting: The Catholic Golden Agers will meet at 11:30 a.m. June 20 in the social hall at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Amherst. The menu is sloppy joes, salad, root beer floats, chips, pickles, cookies and drinks. The donation is $4. Fathers will be honored. Tickets for the July luncheon will be sold. The cost for members is $10 and $11.50 for non-members. No tickets will be sold at the door. The menu is Swiss steak, oven-baked chicken, pork chops, mashed potatoes, cheesy au gratin potatoes, candied carrots, broccoli with cheese, garden salad, rolls, cookies, and drinks. The deadline for a reservation is July 11. There will be a short meeting and a raffle. There is also need for leadership positions for the group. One or two volunteers are needed. Community yard sale: Second annual Compass Community Yard Sale will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 13-14 at Church of the Open Door Vermilion, 1230 Beechview Drive, Vermilion. Proceeds from the ale help to support the fight against human trafficking. Rummage sale set: Sts. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 1500 Lincoln Blvd., Lorain, will hold a rummage sale from 9 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on June 9. There will be a bake sale along with lunch and refreshments served. A huge array of bargains on household items, toys, games, clothing, and more will be offered. Many items are from a moving sale and an estate sale. Bible and Brew: Bible and Brew, a casual conversation about God, faith and scripture will meet weekly at 7:30 p.m., on Thursdays at Forts Tavern, 122 W. Herrick, Wellington. This event is presented by Wellington First United Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome.
Pray the rosary: All faiths and all nations are invited to pray the Rosary of the Unborn with us at St. Anthony of Padua Church, in the Eucharistic Chapel, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the first Saturday of every month. Rosaries are prayed the first Saturday of every month, every half hour, on the hour. Worship service: Community Congregational United Church of Christ, 379 S. Main St. Amherst, hosts worship service and Sunday School (for ages 3 and older) at 10 a.m. every Sunday. Nursery care is provided for those 3 and under. Communion is held the first Sunday of every month. For information, call 440-988-9148. Public invited to worship: Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville, invites the public to join in worship at 7:30 Wednesday evenings. No need to be a member; worship is open to everybody who just wants to take 30 minutes or so to recharge their spiritual batteries midway through the week. The third Sunday of each month at 10:15 a.m. Grace Community’s Church, 12365 Grafton Road, Grafton, will consist of a Biblical panel discussion with audience participation afterwards. Free community meal: On the last Sunday of every month from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Journey of Faith Church in North Ridgeville cooks and serves a fresh hot meal for those in need in the community. This is done in connection with Community Care in North Ridgeville and other churches in the area. The community meal provides more than a hot meal though. It provides a time to sit down and relax with others in the community while being cared for.
