Winslow Jr. pleads not guilty to charges
Former Browns tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. was jailed without bail after pleading not guilty to multiple counts of kidnapping, rape and other charges. The 34-year-old Winslow was ordered to return to San Diego County Superior Court on June 25 for a preliminary hearing. If convicted, Winslow could face a maximum sentence of life in prison. Prosecutors say Winslow began a crime spree last March that included rapes, kidnappings, indecent exposure and burglary and continued until just before his arrest this week.
The Cardinals signed wide receiver Greg Little to a one-year contract after he participated in this week’s minicamp on a tryout basis. Little hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2014. He was a second-round draft pick of the Browns out of North Carolina in 2011. In 54 career NFL games, 42 as a starter, he has caught 161 passes for 1,890 yards and eight touchdowns for the Browns (2011-13) and Cincinnati (2014).
Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson will be honored with the NBA’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the NBA Awards on June 25.
Robertson, the career leader with 181 triple-doubles and the first player to average one for a season, was the NBA’s Rookie of the Year in 1961, MVP in 1964 and won a championship with Milwaukee in 1971. The guard was a nine-time selection to the All-NBA first team and was voted one of the league’s 50 greatest players. He also was co-captain of the 1960 U.S. team that won an Olympic gold medal and led Crispus Attucks High School to consecutive Indiana state championships, the first all African-American team in the nation to win a state title.
