18th annual Fire Expo and Muster in Central Ohio
The Division of State Fire Marshal and the Central Ohio Antique Fire Apparatus Association are hosting the 18th annual Fire Expo and Muster from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 23 at the State Fire Marshal’s office, 8895 E. Main St. in Reynoldsburg, according to a news release.
This year, the group is aiming to beat the record of most hand-drawn antique fire carts (pictured) in one place at a time, according to the release. The previous record is 18 carts.
The expo will feature a fire memorabilia flea market, hand-drawn fire cart parade and activities that give visitors the chance to learn more about the State Fire Marshal’s seven bureaus, according to the release. Visitors will have the opportunity to try out a fire hose and extinguisher simulator. The office’s most popular employees — the accelerant detection canines — will demonstrate some of their arson-sniffing skills. A helicopter landing is scheduled and will be on display for visitors to view, weather permitting.
Special guests include Ohio Department of Commerce Director Jacqueline T. Williams and Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal William A. Spurgeon during opening ceremonies at 10:30 a.m.
The public is invited. Parking and admission are free. Refreshments and food are available for purchase.
