Dinner, bake sale: A Chicken Paprikas Carry-out Dinner and Bake Sale will be from 1-3 p.m. June 30 at the Hungarian Reformed Church, 1691 E. 31st St., Lorain. Dinners consist of ¼ chicken, two stuffed cabbage rolls, dumplings and gravy at $14 per dinner. Also available are Dumplings and Gravy and Haluska at $5 per 1-pound container each. When placing orders, specify white or dark meat. An assortment of pastries, including palacsinta, will also be for sale. Orders may be placed with the church office, 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, by calling 440-277-8177. Deadline for placing orders is June 25. If you leave a message, the call will be confirmed with a return call. Community yard sale: Second annual Compass Community Yard Sale will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 13-14 at Church of the Open Door Vermilion, 1230 Beechview Drive, Vermilion. Proceeds from the ale help to support the fight against human traffickin­g. Rummage sale set: Sts. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 1500 Lincoln Blvd., Lorain, will hold a rummage sale from 9 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on June 9. There will be a bake sale along with lunch and refreshmen­ts served. A huge array of bargains on household items, toys, games, clothing, and more will be offered. Many items are from a moving sale and an estate sale. Bible and Brew: Bible and Brew, a casual conversati­on about God, faith and scripture will meet weekly at 7:30 p.m., on Thursdays at Forts Tavern, 122 W. Herrick, Wellington. This event is presented by Wellington First United Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome. Yard sale, craft show: Cornerston­e United Methodist Church, 2949 W. River Road, North, Elyria, will host a yard sale and craft show, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 11. For details or to rent a space, call 440324-1202. Concession­s will be available. Rain date will be Aug. 25. Reverse raffle: The Knights of Columbus Fr. Ragan Council Charitable Foundation will host the first $ummer $izzler Reverse Raffle and Prime Rib Dinner at Ragan Hall, 1783 Moore Road, Avon, from 6 to 11 p.m., Aug. 4. Tickets for the event are $50 each and must be purchased in advance. Tickets include a full course prime rib dinner, dessert, beer and wine plus one Big Board ticket. The Big Board Grand Prize is $2,000. Additional Big Board tickets plus $2/$3/$5 Sideboards will be available. There will be a DJ and dancing following the final ticket pull. Proceeds from the $ummer Sizzler will be used to support the Tuition Assistance Funds of the parishes and schools our Council serves. This event is open to the public. Vacation Bible School: Super Hero Vacation Bible School will be from 9 a.m. to noon June 24-29 at First Congregati­onal UCC, 5 E. Main St., Berlin Heights. Pray the rosary: All faiths and all nations are invited to pray the Rosary of the Unborn with us at St. Anthony of Padua Church, in the Eucharisti­c Chapel, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the first Saturday of every month. Rosaries are prayed the first Saturday of every month, every half hour, on the hour. Public invited to worship: Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville, invites the public to join in worship at 7:30 Wednesday evenings. No need to be a member; worship is open to everybody who just wants to take 30 minutes or so to recharge their spiritual batteries midway through the week. Free community meal: On the last Sunday of every month from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Journey of Faith Church in North Ridgeville cooks and serves a fresh hot meal for those in need in the community. This is done in connection with Community Care in North Ridgeville and other churches in the area. The community meal provides more than a hot meal though. It provides a time to sit down and relax with others in the community while being cared for.
