City councils to consider legislation
City Councils on the east side of Lorain County meet on June 25 with numerous agenda items under consideration.
Avon
Avon City Council will consider ordinances out of the Avon Planning Commission including granting a special use permit for Hope Christian Church for a new 3,033 square foot expansion at 32625 Detroit Road in addition to granting an easement for Swenson’s Drive-In for their forthcoming location at 36041 Main St.
Swenson’s was approved by Planning Commission on April 18 and will be the first 100 percent drive-in location in Avon.
Council will also consider awarding bids for road infrastructure projects on Jaycox Road along with Candlewood Drive and Sandalwood
Drive. Avon Lake
Avon Lake City Council will introduce legislation on first reading to consider submitting recommendations by the Charter Review Commission to be submitted for the November ballot for consideration by voters.
Four recommendations coming before Council on first reading would propose changes to address a temporary absence of the Mayor, the competitive bidding process for city contracts, emergency ordinances, and changes to the appointment timeline of the Charter Review Commission.
Council will also look at legislation to approve a contract with Emerge, Inc. to develop a new custom-designed mobile application
to give citizens a way to report city issues.
In development for the past 18 months, the application would also give citizens access to the city calendar, press releases and announcements.
Sheffield Village
Sheffield Village Council will consider legislation to purchase a new Ford F-550 4x4 truck from Valley Ford Truck, Inc., Cenwald Corp. for use by the Sheffield Village
Service Department.
The Village will also consider legislation to declare the position of Clerk-Treasurer vacant effective July 23, and redirecting references to the clerk-treasurer to refer to the Sheffield Village Fiscal Officer.
Resolutions to authorize the Village to sell two police vehicles through internet auction, and accepting the 2019 tax budget also go before Council.
