One dead following shooting
A second victim was sent to the hospital
Lorain police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead and sent a woman to the hospital.
The Lorain Police Department responded at 12:38 a.m. June 24 to 911 calls from a home in the 400 block of Indiana Avenue reporting a shooting, according to a news release from the Lorain Police Department.
Upon arrival, two gunshot victims were located.
Carlos Jerome Lauderdale, 36, of Lorain, was found in the street and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.
A second victim, a 25-year-old female, was located inside the residence.
She was transported to MetroHealth Center in Cleveland where she was treated and released, the release said.
A 54-year-old Lorain woman was staying with her 80-yearold mother who lives in the area on the night of the shooting.
She said she did not witness the initial altercation, but was lying on the couch and heard gunshots.
The woman said she went outside and saw Lauderdale fall face down in the street with a large pool of blood around him and a silver car speeding away.
The police response was swift, according to the woman.
“Tons of cop cars just came rushing in,” she said.
The woman said the police remained in the area for hours after the shooting.
No additional details are being released at this time.
