“Together Again” Alexander “Big Al” Carl Orosz, 89 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away WednesUniv­ersity day, June 27, 2018, at Hospital Amherst Health Center, following a sudden illness.

He was born February 20, 1929, in Lorain. Al moved to Amherst in 1942, where he has resided until his passing. He was a graduate from Central High School in Amyears herst. During his high school he enjoyed playing sports and was the star center with the basketball team and also excelled in football. Al owned and operated AJ Constructi­on for fifty-four years. He was previously employed at A Nabowski for twenty-eight years as a sheet metal worker. Al and his company was part of the team that built and installed the steeple on the Church of the Open Door and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst.

Survivors include his sons and their wives, Dennis A. and Kay Orosz of Amherst, Scott and Darlene Orosz of South Amherst, and Craig and Mary Orosz of Lima; his daughter and her husband, Deborah and Bob Burre of Richmond, TexHallie, as; his grandchild­ren, Jason, Katie, Beth Ann, Joel, Sarah, Lisa, and Nathan; and six great-grandchild­ren and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Joann “Josie” Orosz (Nee: Miller) on February 20, 2012; and his parents Alexander and Louise Orosz (Nee: Buzas).

Friends may call Thursday, July 5, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing Prayers will be he Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church; 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Timothy O’Connor, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Amherst.

The family suggests that memorial contributi­ons be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church; 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amhome’s herst, OH 44001.
