Raymond A. Riegelsber­ger, 91, lifeat long resident of Avon, passed away Brookdale Westlake Village on Thursday, June 28, 2018. He was born February 22, 1927 to the late Francis and Cecelia (nee Waldeckgra­duated er) Riegelsber­ger. Raymond from Avon High School in 1944. Shortly after high school, he joined and served in the US Navy from 1945-1946. On June 18, 1949, he married his sweet64 heart, Miriam. They were married for years. He was the owner and president of Shepard Heating Co. of Lorain for 30 years. All the while, Raymond worked part-time with the Avon Police Department. After retiring from the Heating business, he continued his work at the Avon Police Department as a full-time patrolman for another 10 years and cared for the family farm. He and Miriam tended to their large garden, always willing to share its bounty with friends and family.

Raymond loved hunting locally and on his property in West Virginia. He hunted deer and turkey. He also was an avid boater, who enjoyed fishing with his family on Lake Erie and on the annual family vacation to Canada. Raymond enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends. Mostly, he loved being with his family and spending time on his mountain retreat in Middleborn­e, West Virginia. He had a great love of food, and especially sweets. When it was strawberry season, he looked forward to strawberry shortcake, as well as cakes and pies, lovingly prepared by his late wife. When asked what was his favorite pie, he would answer, “Yes!”

Raymond was a master of all trades. He had the talent of building or fixing anything. Raymond was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church of Avon.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Miriam (nee Delof linger); sisters, Theresa Obran and Fran Rand. Dear father Keith of Avon and Kathy Conn (Lester) of Avon Lake.

Family will receive friends Thursday, July 5th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon. Prayer service will be Friday, July 6th at 9:15 a.m. at the Funeral Home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church 2640 Stoney Ridge Rd., Avon. Father Thomas Cleaton will be officiatin­g. Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
