Ed Shaffer, 76, of Amherst, Ohio, passed away Friday, June 29 at his home after a 2 year battle with Asbestos Cancer (Mesothelioma).
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Diane L. (nee Golini) Shaffer, and many nieces and nephews.
Ed served in the army for 2 years. He worked 37 years for the Ford Motor Company. Ed had a deep seated pasto sion for learning and never hesitated take on a new challenge. He was also an accomplished Fire Arms Instructor for the Lorain County Sheriff’s Departchampion. ment and was a National Competition Shooting He was a Merchant Marine, 32 Degree Mason, Past Master of Charleston Lodge 725, a member of the Shriners, a Past Patron of Day Chapter Order of Eastern Stars 479, a certified scuba diver, certified plumber, certified ham radio operator, model boat builder who was recognized for his outstanding precision, and a highly talented car restorer. A celebration service for the life of Ed will be held at Amherst Historical Village, St. George’s Chapel, 831 Milan Avenue, Amherst, at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.
