Autry Dale Hooper (Cowboy), 79 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain.

He was born November 13, 1938 in Martins Ferry, Ohio. Autry was raised in West Virginia before moving to Ohio and has resided in Amherst for the last fifty years.

He proudly served in the United States Army. Autry was employed as a Bi Level Loader at Ford Motor Company for thirenjoye­d ty-six years before retiring. He fishing on his boat on Lake Erie. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family. Autry loved working around his house and tinkering in his garage. He loved tending to his flowers and going to garage sales. Autry was known by his family for his quick wit and sense of humor. He had a passion for ice cream, eating a bowl every day.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Patricia Ann Hooper (nee: Tate); his son, John Hooper of Lorain; his daughter, Diane Nelson (David) of Amherst; his grandchilH­ooper dren, Sean and Katherine Nelson; his brother, John of Collins, caring in laws, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Davis (nee: Hertges); his special parents, Leonard and Pearl Tate; and caring in laws.
