Donald J. Dovala

Donald J. Dovala, age 86, of Amherst passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Kingston of Vermilion. He was born on October 24, 1931 in Lorain, Ohio to George and Susan (nee Suster) Dovala and graduated from Lorain High School. Don worked as a carpenter at US Steel for 32 years. Upon his retirement, he became a Victim Advocate with the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office under Greg White for 20 years. He is survived by his children, Stephen G. (Pamela Westermeyer), of Villa Hill Farm, KY; David J., of Amherst, and Donald A. (Sandra), of Vermilion; three grandchildren, Justin, Hayley, and Grayson; and his sister, Marilyn Borthwick, of Elyria.

Don was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Phyllis (nee Pandy) Dovala, in 2010; parents, George and Susan; brother, George Dovala; and his sister, Nancy Pogorelc.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park , Amherst, Ohio 44001.

Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Laurie A. Miller, Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
