The Lorain Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, better known as the Golden Crescent Chorus, will host a “Happy Days Dinner Show” on Aug. 5 at Tom’s Country Place, 3442 Stoney Ridge Road in Avon.

The dinner show is a fundraiser to help sponsor a scholarship program for the talented youngsters of the Youth Harmony Foundation to attend the Ohio Harmony Xperience that will be at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, according to a news release.

The show will feature barbershop chorus and quartets and hit favorites from the 1950s and 1960s.

Members also will perform Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline,” the Beach Boys’ “409” and more.

The nonprofit Golden Crescent Chorus is an organization of male singers who meet at 7:30 p.m. on Mondays at Tom’s Country Place to practice, perform, socialize and have fun, according to Larry Cassidy, a member of the group.

Golden Crescent Chorus singers come from all walks of life and all parts of the greater Lorain County area. Members live in Avon, Avon Lake, Amherst, Bay Village, Elyria, Grafton, Huron, Lorain, North Ridgeville, Sheffield Lake and Vermilion.

Golden Crescent Chorus members help sponsor children from seventh to 12th grades to attend the Ohio Harmony Xperience music camp, according to the release.

At camp, the youngsters learn four-part a cappella harmony with an emphasis on barbershop, musical excellence, performance skills and more, the release said.

Doors open for the dinner and show at 2 and 5 p.m.

The cost is $25 per person and guests can reserve a table for eight for $200.
