Man jumps onto I-480, struck, killed by semi

A 31-year-old Olmsted Township man jumped onto Interstate 480 in North Olmsted on July 11, according to police.

Sgt. Dan Barrett of the North Olmsted Police Department said the man climbed up the Stearns Road overpass and jumped onto the interstate, where he was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer that fled the scene.

All lanes of I-480 westbound were closed as traffic was diverted off the interstate and onto Great Northern Boulevard for about two hours in the afternoon, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
