Police: PNC Bank robbery suspect arrested
Man has ties to city, Cleveland, police say
A 39-year-old man with ties to North Ridgeville was arrested July 18 in connection with the robbery of PNC Bank the day before, according to North Ridgeville police.
Robert L. Shue was arrested by Cleveland police on an unrelated warrant and is in their custody the morning of July 18, according to a North Ridgeville police report.
At 1:05 p.m. July 17, police responded to a report of a robbery in progress at PNC Bank, 34305 Center Ridge Road in North Ridgeville.
A man entered the bank and handed the teller a note indicating his intentions to rob the bank, police said.
The man left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.
The Police Department released a description of the suspect and images from a bank surveillance camera.
North Ridgeville police received a tip from an individual who identified Shue from bank surveillance photos released July 17.
Police, with the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service, were in contact with Shue and were attempting to negotiate his surrender prior to his arrest by Cleveland police, according to the North Ridgeville police.
Shue has no permanent address but has local ties to North Ridgeville and Cleveland, authorities said.
North Ridgeville police have obtained a robber warrant against him and a holder has been placed with Cleveland police so that when Shue is released there, he will be transported to the Lorain County Jail.
