• Rochester’s offense pounded out 13 hits and three pitchers combined on a six-hit shutout of Triple-A Columbus, 8-0.

Stephen Gonsalves (9-3) limited the Clippers (64-57) to three hits in six scoreless innings. Columbus’ Ryan Merritt (1-2) lasted 4 1⁄3 innings in which he yielded three runs and six hits.

Byron Buxton went 3-for-5 out of the leadoff spot and hit a three-run home run to catalyze the Red Wings’ offense.

Adam Rosales doubled in a 2-for-3 game for the Clippers.

• Double-A Akron’s game at Binghamton was postponed by rain. The RubberDuck­s (67-52) will make up the game in a doublehead­er at Binghamton Aug. 15. Kyle Dowdy (3-6, 5.40 ERA) is slated to start the first game for Akron.

• High-A Lynchburg and Wilmington were tied, 1-1, after seven innings. The game was not completed in time for this edition.

• Jesse Berardi’s three-run home run in the 10th inning lifted Low-A Lake County to a 5-2 win at South Bend.

Erlin Cerda began the inning at second base before Jonathan Laureano walked. Berardi sent his third home run of the season over the right field fence with two outs to score the decisive runs for the Captains (5070). The Cubs forced extra innings with a two-run ninth against Lake County reliever Jonathan Teaney. Robert Broom finished the inning and pitched a scoreless 10th to earn his first victory.

Francisco Perez struck out seven in 6 2⁄3 shutout innings for the Captains. Laureano and Todd Isaacs each went 2-for-4.
