Shuttles transporting fans to high school football game

- Staff report

Elyria High School’s football game Aug. 24 against Avon Lake is expected to be a full house, according to a news release.

It’s encouraged for fans to arrive early when kickoff between the Pioneers and Shoremen begins at 7 p.m.

Some parking will be available at the stadium — approximately 350 spaces.

If parking at the stadium, fans should enter off Middle Avenue past the baseball fields, to the entrance before State Street.

Elyria City Schools will provide shuttle service to and from the stadium beginning at 5:30 p.m., the release said.

If fans choose to use the shuttles, they should park at Elyria High School, 601 Middle Ave., on the West Avenue side in the parking lots at the Performing Arts Center, the release said.

The overflow lot on West Avenue also will be available.

Traffic flow will be oneway in the entrance and out State Street.

This entrance is the only accessible entrance and exit at the stadium, the release said.

The entrance will be the drop off point for shuttles, while all other entrances will be closed.

Walkways will be clearly marked.

Pardon the dust as construction continues on the project, the release said.

Fans should not attempt to enter areas fenced off for pedestrian safety.

This weekend’s events represent a “soft opening” of the new Ely Stadium, the release said.

The district will host a grand opening celebration of the new facility Oct. 19, the release said.
