Oberlin holding garage sales

Oberlin CommunityW­ide Garage Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 1.

Ride through Oberlin and stop at the different community garage sales.

26th annual Big Band Dance/Concert set

The 26th annual Big Band Dance/Concert will be held Sept. 19 at Emerald Event Center in Avon on Just Imagine Drive at The Residence Inn.

The Dan Zola Orchestra will be performing music of the big bands for dancing and listening pleasure. Music begins at 7 p.m. and the band will play until 10 p.m.

Advance tickets are now on sale at the North Ridgeville Senior Center, 7327 Avon Belden Road, and the Lorain County Office on Aging, 320 N Gateway Blvd., Elyria, Lorain County Office on Aging Southern Satellite Office at 508 Dickson St., in Wellington (440-647-0777) and Lorain County Office on Aging Northeast Satellite Office (440-949-8146) at 4575 East Lake Road in Sheffield Lake.

Pre-sale tickets are $10. Tickets will be sold at the door for $12 each.

The AbbeWood, First Federal of Lakewood, Bogner’s Funeral Home and Kryszak and Associates­Attorneys at Law are sponsoring the event.

Because of their sponsorshi­p, all proceeds from each ticket sold will help support programs and services of the North Ridgeville Office for Older Adults (Senior Center) and the Lorain County Office on Aging.

These programs include transporta­tion, home delivered meals and supportive services.

Oktoberfes­t planned Sept. 22 in Avon

The Isabella Guild of Knights of Columbus, Fr. Ragan Council will be hosting its annual Oktoberfes­t on Sept. 22 at Ragan Hall 1783 Moore Road, Avon.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event begins at 6 p.m.

Traditiona­l Bratwurst dinner, one beer, and dessert are included in the $20 ticket.

The Frank Moravcik band will be playing your favorite polka’s for dancing.

The event is open to the public.
