Man arrested on federal charges of selling drugs, guns

A man is in federal custody after authorities say he was caught selling marijuana and weapons in Lorain.

Antonio Stewart was charged with possession with the intent to distribute, distribution of marijuana and felon in possession of a firearm, all federal-level felonies after the FBI and Lorain Police SWAT team arrested him at 7 a.m. Aug. 29 in an undisclosed location in the city of Lorain without incident, according to Vicki Anderson, special agent Cleveland Office FBI.

According to court documents from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio authorities found evidence of Stewart’s dealings by arranging a July 27 meeting with an informant at a house in the 800 block of West 10th Street in Lorain.

A transaction took place at the residence for a pound of marijuana in exchange for $2,000, the documents said.

During the transaction process, the information told authorities Stewart offered to sell guns, according to the documents.

A second meeting was arranged, at the same address, for the purchase of both marijuana and guns July 30.

Stewart sold a half pound of marijuana for $1,200, but told the informant the gun would be purchased later, according to the documents.

The two met Aug. 3 at the West 10th Street address and drove to a house in the 1600 block of New Jersey Avenue in Lorain where a fully loaded assault rifle was purchased for $500, according to the documents.

Stewart also conducted another transaction Aug. 15 in the 600 block of Broadway involving the selling of a half a pound of marijuana and two loaded handguns that totaled at $500, the documents said.

He is being held by U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio District until his appearance at 9:30 a.m., Sept. 6, in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio before Magistrate Judge Jonathan D. Greenberg.

Information on where Stewart is from, his age and where he specifically was arrested could not obtained Aug. 30.
