The Matt Wilhelm Award goes to The Morning Journal’s football player of the year. The Wilhelm watch list is fluid and can change from week to week.

In alphabetic­al order: • Darren Anders, North Olmsted, Sr.:

Rushed 27 times for 167 yards and three touchdowns, adding a catch for seven yards and two sacks on defense, in a 33-27 overtime win against Midview. For the season, Anders has 316 yards and five touchdowns on 55 carries, adding a reception for seven yards and two sacks on defense.

• Leighton Banjoff, Elyria Catholic, Sr.:

Rushed five times for 39 yards, adding two receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown along with 10 tackles (four solo), two sacks, a fumble recovery and a pick-six, in a 74-22 win over Cleveland Central Catholic. For the season, Banjoff has 273 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries to go with three receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown, adding 27 tackles (11 solo), two sacks, a fumble recovery and pick-six on defense.

• Brandon Coleman, Columbia, Sr.:

Rushed 22 times for 233 yards at three touchdowns in a 41-7 win over Northweste­rn. For the season, Coleman has 472 yards and six touchdowns on 49 carries, adding nine solo tackles (3.5 for a loss) on defense.

• Daylin Dower, Lorain, Jr.:

Rushed 16 times for 245 yards and a touchdown in a 40-7 win over Elyria. For the season, Dower has 513 yards and four touchdowns on 30 carries, adding six receptions for 33 yards.

• Cameron Engrish, Elyria Catholic, Sr.:

Was 11-for-17 for 353 yards and six touchdowns with no intercepti­ons in a 74-22 win over Cleveland Central Catholic. For the season, Engrish is 51-for-70 for 1,020 yards and 13 touchdowns with no intercepti­ons.

• Ross Hartman, Rocky River, Sr.:

Had two solo tackles and a 17-yard reception in a 41-7 win over Collinwood. For the season, Hartman has 22 total tackles (14 solo), seven tackles for a loss, a sack and a forced fumble on defense, adding 75 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries on offense.

• Seth Hurd, Vermilion, Sr.:

Was 1-for-2 for four yards, adding one rush for 12 yards, before leaving with an injury in a 21-19 loss to Firelands. For the season, Hurd is 16-for-28 for 259 yards, five touchdowns and an intercepti­ons, adding 11 carries for 111 yards and two touchdowns and seven tackles on defense.

• Tyshawn Lighty, Lorain, Jr.:

Caught one pass for 35 yards and a two-point conversion, adding three rushes for 32 yards and a touchdown, in a 40-7 win over Elyria. For the season, Lighty has 11 receptions for 246 yards, a touchdown and a two-point conversion, adding six carries for 51 yards and a touchdown.

• Ryan Maloy, Avon, Sr.:

Was 12-for-21 for 80 yards, a touchdown and two intercepti­ons, adding 15 rushes for 70 yards and a touchdown, in a 31-28 loss to Avon Lake. For the season, Maloy is 32-for-57 for 373 yards, four touchdowns and three intercepti­ons, adding 146 yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries.

• Jacob May, Westlake, Sr.:

Was 10-for-20 for 187 yards, a touchdown and no intercepti­ons, adding a rushing touchdown, in a 48-14 loss to Olmsted Falls. For the season, May is 46-for-75 for 650 yards, 10 touchdowns and an intercepti­on, adding two rushing touchdowns as well.

• Nick Perusek, Avon, Jr.:

Did not play due to injury in a 31-28 loss to Avon Lake. For the season, Perusek has 327 yards and two touchdowns on 38 carries, adding 49 yards and two touchdowns on three receptions.

• Konner Riggs, Avon Lake, Sr.:

Rushed 32 times for 162 yards in a 31-28 win over Avon. For the season, Riggs has 433 yards and six touchdowns on 85 carries.

• Blake Ruffner, Firelands, Sr.:

Was 9-for-20 for 97 yards and an intercepti­on, adding 160 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries and nine tackles (five solo) on defense, in a 21-19 win over Vermilion. For the season, Ruffner is 40-for-75 for 588 yards, two touchdowns and three intercepti­ons, adding 46 carries for 341 yards and six touchdowns on offense and 24 tackles (14 solo) and a fumble recovery on defense.

• Khennedy Scagliozzo, Amherst, Sr.:

Rushed 31 times for 285 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-9 win over North Ridgeville. For the season, Scagliozzo has 649 yards and 11 touchdowns on 65 carries.

• Jack Spellacy, Olmsted Falls, Sr.:

Rushed nine times for 89 yards and a touchdown in a 48-14 win over Westlake. For the season, Spellacy has 240 yards and three touchdowns on 36 carries.

• Matt Steinmetz, North Ridgeville, Sr.:

Was 10for-20 for 157 yards and two intercepti­ons, adding seven yards on seven carries, in a 38-9 loss against Amherst. For the season, Steinmetz is 36-for-73 for 605 yards and four touchdowns with three intercepti­ons, adding 23 carries for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
