Bounce, wiggle, giggle, run

The Avon Lake Public Library, 32649 Electric Blvd., provided a program Sept. 14 for young children to release some energy and improve social development.

“This is the Bounce, Wiggle Giggle, Run program,” said Kim Sherman, children’s associate at the library. “The program is designed for those just learning to walk up to 2 years old. These are kids just learning their beginning movements, so the program is designed around that.”

Sherman said Bounce, Wiggle Giggle is designed to be a learning experience.

“The kids learn different words, motions and how to interact with their peers,” she said. “I think it’s very good for socialization, and it allows the parent to have a fun time with their child.”

Sherman said despite the program designed for youngsters, it stays organized.

“We start off with everyone learning each other’s names,” she said. “We then transition to organized songs and dance. The event is then followed by a bunch of different toys and stations I have set up.”

Ayaka Aussem, of Avon Lake, said she was at the program for the first time.

“I love it, my daughter is having a good time,” she said. “There is plenty for her to do. There is also nothing for her to trip on, so it’s safe for her.”

Michele Monnolly, of Avon, gave the program high praise.

“It’s wonderful,” Monnolly said. “It’s very well done, and my daughter is really enjoying herself.”

Brittney Hurm, of Avon Lake, said the event gave her a fun activity to do with her son.

“The new baby is on the way, so it was nice to come out and do something with my son,” Hurm said. “He really seems to be having a good time, and I think he enjoys being around the other kids.”

The next Bounce, Wiggle, Giggle, Run is 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11.
