The Matt Wilhelm Award goes to The Morning Journal’s football player of the year.

The Wilhelm watch list is fluid and can change from week to week. In alphabetic­al order: • Darren Anders, North Olmsted, Sr.: Rushed 14 times for 89 yards and a touchdown, adding four receptions for 33 yards and a sack on defense, in a 49-21 loss to Avon. For the season, Anders has 405 yards and six touchdowns on 69 carries, adding five receptions for 40 yards and three sacks on defense.

• Brandon Coleman, Columbia, Sr.: Rushed seven times for 117 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-0 win over Columbia. For the season, Coleman has 589 yards and eight touchdowns on 56 carries, adding 15 solo tackles (4.5 for a loss) and a sack on defense.

• Daylin Dower, Lorain, Jr.: Rushed seven times for 210 yards and two touchdowns, adding a reception for 26 yards, in a 50-6 win over St. Joseph. For the season, Dower has 723 yards and six touchdowns on 37 carries, adding seven receptions for 59 yards.

• Cameron Engrish, Elyria Catholic, Sr.: Was 19for-35 for 228 yards and two touchdowns with two intercepti­ons in a 49-14 loss to Mogadore. For the season, Engrish is 71-for-105 for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns with two intercepti­ons.

• Andrew Gooch, Midview, Sr.: Was 20-for-35 for 285 yards, two touchdowns and no intercepti­ons in a 5513 loss to Amherst. For the season, Gooch is 76-for-136 for 1,038 yards, nine touchdowns and no intercepti­ons.

• Ross Hartman, Rocky River, Sr.: Had nine solo tackles and a sack, adding 12 carries for 30 yards and a 3-yard reception on offense, in a 16-14 win over Holy Name. For the season, Hartman has 32 total tackles (23 solo), seven tackles for a loss, two sacks and a forced fumble on defense, adding 105 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries and 54 yards on five catches on offense.

• Michael Howard, Olmsted Falls, Sr.: Caught two passes for 109 yards and a touchdown, adding five rushes for 61 yards and a touchdown, in a 49-14 win over Lakewood. For the season, Howard has six receptions for 206 yards and three touchdowns, adding 23 carries for 223 yards and three touchdowns and a kickoff return for a touchdown.

• Ryan Maloy, Avon, Sr.: Was 11-for-16 for 187 yards, three touchdowns and no intercepti­ons, adding nine rushes for 89 yards, in a 4921 win over North Olmsted. For the season, Maloy is 43for-73 for 560 yards, seven touchdowns and three intercepti­ons, adding 235 yards and two touchdowns on 42 carries.

• Jacob May, Westlake, Sr.: Was 10-for-22 for 84 yards and an intercepti­on, adding a rushing touchdown, in a 42-7 loss to Avon Lake. For the season, May is 56-for-97 for 734 yards, 10 touchdowns and two intercepti­ons, adding three rushing touchdowns as well.

• Jonah Pfeil, Vermilion, Sr.: Caught four passes for 75 yards in a 38-7 loss to Perkins. For the season, Pfeil has eight receptions for 191 yards and two touchdowns, 14 carries for 57 yards and two touchdowns and is 4-for-12 passing for 16 yards and an intercepti­on. He’s added 16 tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown on defense and a kick return and punt return for a touchdown as well as an average punt distance of 40.8 yards on special teams.

• Edwin Ralat, Midview, Sr.: Caught eight passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns in a 55-13 loss to Amherst. For the season, Ralat has 22 receptions for 404 yards and six touchdowns.

• Konner Riggs, Avon Lake, Sr.: Rushed nine times for 143 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-7 win over Westlake. For the season, Riggs has 576 yards and nine touchdowns on 94 carries.

• Blake Ruffner, Firelands, Sr.: Was 4-for-14 for 64 yards, a touchdown and two intercepti­ons, adding 42 yards on 10 carries and four tackles (two solo) on defense, in a 48-6 loss to Ashland. For the season, Ruffner is 44-for-89 for 652 yards, three touchdowns and five intercepti­ons, adding 56 carries for 383 yards and six touchdowns on offense and 28 tackles (16 solo) and a fumble recovery on defense.

• Khennedy Scagliozzo, Amherst, Sr.: Rushed 24 times for 184 yards and five touchdowns, adding in a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, in a 55-13 win over Midview. For the season, Scagliozzo has 833 yards and 16 touchdowns on 89 carries, along with a kick return for a score.

• Jack Spellacy, Olmsted Falls, Sr.: Rushed 14 times for 107 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-14 win over Lakewood. For the season, Spellacy has 347 yards and six touchdowns on 50 carries.

• Matt Steinmetz, North Ridgeville, Sr.: Was 10-for34 for 166 yards, two touchdowns and four intercepti­ons in a 49-27 loss against Berea-Midpark. For the season, Steinmetz is 46-for-107 for 771 yards and six touchdowns with seven intercepti­ons, adding 29 carries for 92 yards and two touchdowns.

• Andrew Veverka, Bay, Sr.: Rushed eight times for 65 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-13 win over Parma. For the season, Veverka has 359 yards and seven touchdowns on 54 carries.
