The Matt Wilhelm Award goes to The Morning Journal’s football player of the year.

The Wilhelm watch list is fluid and can change from week to week. In alphabetic­al order:

• Darren Anders, North Olmsted, Sr.: Rushed 15 times for 92 yards and a touchdown, adding a reception for 6 yards and a sack on defense, in a 34-33 loss to Westlake. For the season, Anders has 497 yards and seven touchdowns on 84 carries, adding six receptions for 46 yards and four sacks on defense.

• Brandon Coleman, Columbia, Sr.: Rushed 18 times for 191 yards and three touchdowns, adding four receptions for 59 yards to go with 14 tackles (12 solo) and two tackles for a loss on defense, in a 38-35 loss to Buckeye. For the season, Coleman has 780 yards and 11 touchdowns on 74 carries, adding 27 solo tackles (6.5 for a loss) and a sack on defense.

• Daylin Dower, Lorain, Jr.: Rushed eight times for 40 yards, adding three receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown, in a 38-28 loss to Clarkson Academy. For the season, Dower has 763 yards and six touchdowns on 45 carries, adding 10 receptions for 134 yards and a touchdown.

• Cameron Engrish, Elyria Catholic, Sr.: Was 7-for-26 for 59 yards and two intercepti­ons in a 31-13 loss to Valley Forge. For the season, Engrish is 78-for-131 for 1,307 yards and 15 touchdowns with four intercepti­ons.

• Michael Finnegan, Rocky River, Sr.: Was 21for-36 for 386 yards and four touchdowns, adding in a rushing touchdown on seven carries, in a 46-26 win over Ashtabula Lakeside. For the season, Finnegan is 71-for-117 for 1,025 yards, eight touchdowns and four intercepti­ons along with a rushing touchdown.

• Andrew Gooch, Midview, Sr.: Was 22-for-46 for 278 yards and an intercepti­on in a 49-6 loss to Avon. For the season, Gooch is 98-for-182 for 1,316 yards, nine touchdowns and one intercepti­on.

• Ross Hartman, Rocky River, Sr.: Had four solo tackles (one for a loss), adding seven carries for 27 yards and a 10-yard reception on offense, in a 46-26 win over Ashtabula Lakeside. For the season, Hartman has 41 total tackles (27 solo), eight tackles for a loss, two sacks and a forced fumble on defense, adding 132 yards and two touchdowns on 38 carries and 64 yards on six catches on offense.

• Michael Howard, Olmsted Falls, Sr.: Rushed eight times for 137 yards and a touchdown, in a 4614 win over North Ridgeville. For the season, Howard has six receptions for 206 yards and three touchdowns, adding 31 carries for 360 yards and four touchdowns and a kickoff return for a touchdown.

• Ryan Maloy, Avon, Sr.: Was 16-for-22 for 149 yards, two touchdowns and an intercepti­on, adding eight rushes for 78 yards and two touchdowns, in a 49-6 win over Midview. For the season, Maloy is 59-for-95 for

709 yards, nine touchdowns and four intercepti­ons, adding 313 yards and four touchdowns on 50 carries.

• Jacob May, Westlake, Sr.: Was 16-for-30 for 177 yards, two touchdowns and two intercepti­ons in a 34-33 win over North Olmsted. For the season, May is 72-for-127 for 911 yards, 12 touchdowns and four intercepti­ons, adding three rushing touchdowns as well.

• Edwin Ralat, Midview, Sr.: Did not have a reception in a 49-6 loss to Avon. For the season, Ralat has 22 receptions for 404 yards and six touchdowns.

• Konner Riggs, Avon Lake, Sr.: Rushed 18 times for 77 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-0 win over Lakewood. For the season, Riggs has 646 yards and 12 touchdowns on 115 carries.

• Blake Ruffner, Firelands, Sr.: Was 8-for-17 for 90 yards and a touchdown, adding 37 yards on 19 carries, in a 35-6 loss to Fairview. For the season, Ruffner is 52-for-106 for 742 yards, four touchdowns and five intercepti­ons, adding 75 carries for 420 yards and six touchdowns on offense and 28 tackles (16 solo) and a fumble recovery on defense.

• Khennedy Scagliozzo, Amherst, Sr.: Rushed 34 times for 271 yards and a touchdown in a 45-38 win over Berea-Midpark. For the season, Scagliozzo has 1,104 yards and 17 touchdowns on 124 carries, along with a kick return for a score.

• Jack Spellacy, Olmsted Falls, Sr.: Rushed 18 times for 147 yards and three touchdowns, adding two receptions for 36 yards and two touchdowns, in a 46-14 win over North Ridgeville. For the season, Spellacy has 495 yards and nine touchdowns on 50 carries, adding two receptions for 36 yards and two touchdowns.

• Matt Steinmetz, North Ridgeville, Sr.: Was 14for-27 for 192 yards, and a touchdown in a 46-14 loss to Olmsted Falls. For the season, Steinmetz is 60-for-134 for 963 yards and seven touchdowns with seven intercepti­ons, adding 38 carries for 64 yards and two touchdowns.

• Andrew Veverka, Bay, Sr.: Rushed 22 times for 103 yards and a touchdown in a 17-14 win over Holy Name. For the season, Veverka has 462 yards and eight touchdowns on 76 carries, adding two intercepti­ons and eight tackles (four solo) on defense.
