Stop the disrespect in government

- Charles Holtzman Grafton

So do we have treasonous employees in the White House? Wow! Could that be possible?

As a people, we seem to have lost respect for each other. We each have our own beliefs, and it is very difficult to accept another’s beliefs.

But, that does not mean we have to “disrespect that person” just because they believe differently.

Many of us have thinkings that are liberal, neutral or conservative in nature. Most believe in God in their own way. Some love working to help society evolve and others could not care less. Some help our neighbors and others could not care less.

Whatever our belief, we should not “disrespect” the others.

As to the presidential election process, the only fair representation of all states is the electoral college process. Otherwise, why have an election in other than about six heavily populated states.

Many will disagree. Many will agree. Why disrespect each for their beliefs.

Why the op-ed? We learn from family, school, each other, our peers and our idols. When our idols show “disrespect for each other” our nature is to say that’s OK, and we mimic that behavior. Why? We know right from wrong.

I submit we have gone too far left “disrespecting each other.” Even President Trump feels free to disrespect his opponents.

Our founders dictated many freedoms including freedom of speech. But, I would wager they did not believe in our current disrespect of each other. (Although they settled their differences with swords or pistols). We can agree to respectfully disagree about a subject. Violence is never the solution. Reason should prevail. Stop the killing! Get back to talking and reason.

Our governing process will always be controversial. But the process should not be a place for “disrespect,” espionage and treason.

Self-proclaimed anti-administration personnel working for its ouster have to go. Their continued employment disrespects us all.
