A new restaurant is ready to open its doors to share the taste of Philadelphia’s favorite sandwich.

The Original Steaks & Hoagies will open at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 4 at its newest location, 4310A N. Leavitt Road in Lorain, in the Lighthouse Village shopping center.

Co-owners Jeff Wiseman and Josh Bierman bill their eatery as “a unique alternative to chain sandwich shops and traditional fast food.”

“Our new location is ready to serve Lorain, and its surroundings, the best Philly cheesesteaks around,” Wiseman said. “We’re excited to bring a brand new option to the area, but we’re also committed to being good neighbors. We look forward to supporting local organizations that work to make Lorain the great area it is.”

Cheese steak enthusiasts should show up early.

For the first 50 people in line, Wiseman and Bierman are offering a free cheese steak a week for a year.

The offer could generate a crowd, the owners said.

“That first rush is kind of cool,” Bierman said.

The menu features “The Original,” fresh grilled ribeye steak with onions, mushrooms, hot and sweet peppers and choice of cheese.

There are a number of variations with options for chicken, cauliflower for vegetarian meals, starters, salads, fries and cold hoagies or wraps.

Original Steaks & Hoagies has dine-in and takeout options and does catering.

Wiseman and Bierman have remodeled the space for the restaurant, which includes a mural with their slogan, “From Philly to The Land,” with city skylines of Philadelphia and Cleveland.

Among their employees is Lorain native Brooke Brown, who works as a kitchen manager for the company.

The store will open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday to Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

The Lorain store is the fourth for the sandwich shop.

Other locations are in Fairlawn, Canton and Twinsburg.
