Visit Lorain County gave a presentation Oct. 3 on a number of events it plans to hold in coming months during a Lorain County commissioners meeting.

Jennifer Kennedy, interim director of the organization, announced the return of the annual Burger Battle and Cupcake Crawl.

The Burger Battle takes place from Oct. 11-28 and will see 13 area eateries battling to see which has the best beef belly busters.

The restaurants will offer $9 creations that aren’t normally found on its menus.

Kennedy said the event was extended this year because people were having trouble hitting each burger joint in only 10 days.

Once more this year, those who take part, are invited to vote for their favorite and then enter a drawing for a dinner for four at the winning restaurant, she said.

The Cupcake Crawl had kicked off the day before the meeting, but there’s plenty of time to fill up the provided passport while satiating your sweet tooth before the Oct. 31 cut-off date, according to a news release distributed at the meeting.

A stamp from five of the eight participating bakeries in the aforementioned passport snags the participant a T-shirt, while receiving stamps from all eight enters them into a drawing for a basket full of dry ingredients to make their own cupcakes at home, the release said.

Kennedy said there’s also a new initiative coming to town: Shaken & Stirred, a specialty cocktail trail.

The event is in the planning stages, but is scheduled to run from Nov. 15 to Jan. 1 and will invite people to visit some of the local restaurants and bars to try some of their “most creative cocktails,” she said.

At the end of the event, the participants will vote to decide the county’s best cocktail, Kennedy said.

Also, Kennedy and Lorain County Administrator James Cordes gave a teaser of a possible Mardi Gras event to take in February.

Kennedy said she is “checking the pulse” on the possibility for the event.

Cordes said the county is looking to bringing a “top name zydeco act” to
