Dale Denman Truitt, 77, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, October 7, 2018, at his home, surrounded by family.

He was born September 18, 1941, in Adams County, Ohio.

Dale retired from E&L Transport Company in 1997.

Dale was a loving and dedicated husband of 56 years to his wife, Shirley (Crump) Truitt. Loved and admired by his daughter, Kristina (Truitt) Wilson (husband, Larry Wilson) and son, Ricky Dale Truitt (wife, Kim Truitt); adored by his four grandchild­ren, Dylon Wyatt Wilson, Daniel Lewis Truitt, Dalton Garret Wilson, and Bradley Joe Truitt. Loved by his sister, Sandy Bartlett (Angus Bartlett), his brotherin-law, Kenny Crump (Sandy Crump) and his nephews and nieces.

Dale was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Truitt (Robert Truitt); and his father, Dewey Mounts (Eva Mounts).

Dale lived and raised his family in Vermilion, Ohio since 1973. He served as a member of the U.S. Army. Dale was also an active member of the First Baptist Church in Vermilion, Ohio. He was an avid bowler and spent over 50 years traveling and bowling in leagues around Lorain County, Ohio. He was a member of the Bowlers Associatio­n. He was a racing fan and enjoyed Saturday night racing at local tracks. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with friends and family to share stories.

Dale leaves his legacy of his family, bowling, and many, many friendship­s he built throughout his life, but also his storytelli­ng and laughter that will be missed beyond words for all of those that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visit with family Saturday, October 27, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Vermilion, for a church service with Pastor Mark Jones, followed by a luncheon and Celebratio­n of Life Service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care.

As he gave in life, he is also giving in death. His body was donated to Cleveland Clinic Foundation for medical research.
