Police arrest suspect in store robbery

Westlake police have arrested a suspect in the Oct. 12 robbery of Convenient Store, according to a news release.

On Oct. 15, with the assistance of tips from the public and law enforcemen­t partners, the Westlake Police Department identified the suspect in the robbery at Convenient located on Detroit and Dover Center roads, the release said.

Mousa H. Abukhalil, 29, of Lakewood, was arrested without incident after being located at 7:19 p.m. at East 61st Street and Superior Avenue in Cleveland, according to the release.

Abukhalil made an initial appearance in Rocky River Municipal Court on Oct. 17 and his case was bound over to the Cuyahoga County grand jury, the release said.

He remains in custody on a $250,000 bond. He is charged with aggravated robbery, according to court records.

Westlake police with the assistance of the Lakewood Police Department plan to serve a search warrant at a residence on Clifton Boulevard in Lakewood as part of the ongoing investigat­ion in the case, the release said.

At 10:22 p.m. Oct. 12, Westlake officers responded to Convenient following reports that a male had entered the store and brandished a handgun while demanding case.

The clerk complied and was unharmed as the male fled with an undisclose­d amount of money, police said.
