Man allegedly flees police, faces felony charges
An Avon Lake man is facing felony charges after allegedly fleeing from police.
David M. Benz, 41, was charged with fleeing from police, a fourth-degree felony, obstructing official business, a fifth-degree felony, driving under suspension, a first-degree misdemeanor, reckless operation, operating in marked lanes, open container and speed, all minor misdemeanors, according to an Avon Lake police report.
Officers responded at 12:57 a.m., Oct. 25, for a harassment complaint.
Benz, the subject of the complaint, was found driving his 1995 black Ford F-150 on Moore Road near Lake Road, the report said.
He did not comply with officers and led a chase that continued into Sheffield Lake, according to the report.
Benz attempted to flee on foot, but was arrested shortly afterward, the report said.
Benz, who was in the Lorain County Jail on a $7,500 bond, must appear at 10 a.m., Nov. 13, before Avon Lake Municipal Court Judge Darrel A. Bilancini.
