The Lorain County Veterans Service Commission is gearing up for its annual free comedy show for veterans.

The Show Your Stripes event, presented by a partnership of iHeart Radio and the commission, will take place from 8-10:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at Quaker Steak and Lube at 4900 Transportation Drive in Sheffield Village.

“This is something we started in 2014,” said Martha Garreau, administrative assistant/marketing and design for the Veterans Service Commission. “It’s a free event we wanted to do for the veterans around Veterans Day. It’s free for veterans, active-duty, National Guard and reservists.

“The show is headlined by Bill Squire and he always brings two other comedians; this year John Bruton and Liz Blanc will be part of the show.”

Garreau said non service members also may attend.

“We just ask you either donate $5, or bring at least three cans of nonperishable food items,” she said. “All proceeds benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank.”
