Former Avon Lake fire chief indicted

A former Avon Lake fire chief was indicted on multiple counts of sexual misconduct on Nov. 7 in Lorain County Court of Common Pleas Court.

Lawrence E. Grizzell, 60, of Elyria is facing a total of 16 felony counts including eight counts of sexual battery and eight counts of gross sexual imposition, according to court records.

Grizzell was arrested without incident at 4:15 p.m., Oct. 1 at his Gulf Road home following an investigation that began Sept. 30, according to a news release from the Elyria Police Department.

Grizzell is being held in the Lorain County Jail on $1.25 million bond.
