Toledo rolls, but Crum solid
Toledo amassed 384 yards on the ground to wallop Kent State, 56-34, in “MACtion” on Nov. 15. Bryant Koback ran for 192 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries and Art Thompkins contributed 122 yards and a pair of scores on 14 carries for the Rockets (5-5).
Midview product Dustin Crum came on in relief for the Golden Flashes (2-8) and was 7-for-8 passing for 116 yards and a TD, a twoyard strike to Mike Carrigan. He also ran for 17 yards on four carries.
C.J. Jackson’s 3-pointer gave Ohio State its final lead with 2 minutes left, and the Buckeyes held on to beat Creighton, 69-60, after squandering a doubledigit halftime lead. Keyshawn Woods scored 15 of his game-high 19 points in the first half as the Buckeyes (3-0) got out to a 37-25 halftime lead, but Creighton (21) stormed back to take a four-point lead before fading and losing for the first time in 25 home nonconference games since December 2015.
Baseball owners have locked down their commissioner and their main broadcast partner, too. After wrapping up two days of meetings at a hotel next to the Braves’ SunTrust Park, the owners announced a new contract for Commissioner Rob Manfred, keeping him on the job at least through the 2024 regular season. The 60-year-old started a five-year term in January 2015. The owners also signed off on a new television deal with Fox, which still has three seasons to go on its current eight-year contract that pays baseball an average of $525 million per season.
