Reserve at Beaver Creek inches toward go-ahead
An ordinance to approve and accept dedicated improvements for the ongoing Reserve at Beaver Creek project’s phases I and II and the subdivision plat in the city of Amherst, was approved by City Council on Nov. 19 for further readings and review.
Located off Hollstein Drive near Mercy Health and Recreation in Amherst, the housing development is planned to consist of 109 single-family ranch homes, city officials said.
Minor items concerning energizing fuel in a generator and ordering proper radio equipment for the lift station will be sorted out before the next Council meeting, said Shaun Brady, managing member of Cambrad Development III, 1290 Basset Road in Westlake, during the Nov. 19 Council meeting.
“We think it’s gonna fill a tremendous market niche,” Brady said. “We’re gonna have a great pipeline of prospective buyers. We’ve already been building over the year through our other building efforts at (The Preserve at) Quarry Lakes and really just word of mouth.”
Brady said the zoning process for the housing development began in 2017.
A sub-divider agreement was made in October 2017, when the company then chose to hold off any further work until 2018.
The housing development will be a private development with public utilities including water, sewer and electric., Brady said.
Amherst Mayor Mark Costilow said during the meeting that the administration, including the utilities department, backs the housing development.
No building permits have been approved at this time.
“We think this is the only project like this on the west side of Cleveland, and we just feel that it’s really gonna take off as soon as we get the green light to go ahead and plan this thing and start building houses,” Brady said.
