Vehicles seen in Elyria sporting the sunglassed, bumblebee letter B logo of B’s Car Stereo have heavily contributed to bringing business to the mobile shop and making it a necessity to many in Lorain County.

That’s the observation of owner Eric Balmert, who first introduced the signature logo on a banner, which was attached to a parked vehicle, shortly after opening his business inside of Cobblestone Square in Sheffield Village in 2002.

After 16 years, the banner strategy became a bigger advertisement when Balmert decided to decorate the entire exterior of two vehicles with his logo and services.

He said it has since brought many loyal and new customers of various locations to his business, which moved its location near Midway Mall at 2420 Midway Mall Blvd. in Elyria in 2014.

The newer B’s Car Stereo location also has their advertisement vehicles displayed in their parking lot and neighboring areas.

“Ever since then, I won’t have a vehicle outside without our stuff on it, it just doesn’t make sense,” he said. “That taught me a lesson.”

The accessory and detail shop offers a number of services to its guests.

Some of these services are remote starts, keyless entries, window tinting, Bluetooth integration, heated seats, stereos, lighting and more.

These services can be performed on not only cars, but marine vehicles, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, side-by-sides and others.

“Pretty much anything that has 12 volts, we can do,” Balmert said. “You name it, we pretty much do it.”

Out of all services, the shop’s crew performs the most services in window tinting and remote start, Balmert said.

He added that the shop is the number one remote start dealer in the county; installing about 650-700 a year.

“We’re more than just a stereo installment shop,” he said. “We do more integrations than anything.”

However, Balmert has performed in competitions for car audio and holds five world titles; including a world record set for reaching 106.9 decibels in 2006.

Balmert’s interest in stereo systems created the company’s name, but he is considering a name change to “B’s Mobile Integrations.”

The shop is favored over many in the area because of their time in the community and the work the staff puts in, he said.

“We began in 2002 and have had many loyal customers and generations of families,” Balmert said. “We stay pretty busy and have a good clientele.”

He said there aren’t many shops like theirs in the county, who additionally, offer some of the most reasonable prices compared to competition with others like the Internet or larger companies.

B’s Car Stereo has little competition with similar brick and mortar shops in the county, but they continue to offer the best prices they can for customers.

“Many shops are affected by the Internet,” he said. “We have a brick-and-mortar (store), we have a place where you can purchase (goods), have it under warranty, know that you’re going to get a quality service and know that you’re going to be getting what you’re supposed to be getting.

“I think we stay true to what we set out to do and I think it’s because of that we’re still around,” he said.

Because of the service performed, Balmert said they attract customers to Elyria from all over Ohio, surrounding states and Canada.

He said the business’ newer 9,000-square-foot location can help attract more to the Midway Mall area and provide a chance for the area to possibly grow.

B’s Car Stereo has grown from its 2,300-square-foot storefront shop and that makes it possible to perform more work, especially indoors.

Much work was performed outside during all seasons of the year at the Cobblestone location because of the small amount of space, he said.

“We needed this space,” Balmert said. “We like the location and hope it can help the mall. We’ve even done recordsetting numbers here which is awesome and we hope to keep on doing well and doing what we need to do.”
