Guests peruse artworks among local talent at show
The Main Street Vermilion Arts Guild showcased a Christmas Holiday display featuring a myriad of art pieces available for purchase.
“We have a lot of people downtown for Shops Mall Saturday and they can start here at the Main Street building, look at some great art and continue to shop throughout downtown,” said Scott Dommin, member of the guild at 685 Main St. in Vermilion. “We feature nearly 40 local artists in the show. We have done this for 10 years now, and the event is always well attended.”
Diane Reinhart, guild member, said Saturday a variety of art is available at
the show.
“We have photography, pottery, acrylics, watercolor, cards and almost anything else you can think of,” she said. “All artists involved have great work available, and this is a way for people to come in and purchase some beautiful works.”
Reinhart said the show provides a great way for people to see the creativity of the area.
“Some local artists don’t get the exposure they deserve, so this allows for people to see their talent on display,” she said. “People view local artists sometimes in a negative light, but they are all very capable and make extraordinary works of art.”
Reinhart was happy with the turnout for the event.
“People are coming out in great numbers,” she said. “The weather is perfect for being this late in November. We’ve added a hot chocolate bar and other goodies for visitors to enjoy this year. I’m glad we have a lot available for those who have come out.”
Donna Bunce, of Amherst, was very impressed with the show.
“There is a lot of adorable things in there,” she said. “Plenty of great stuff, and it was surprising to know it was all done by local artists.”
Patricia Muldoon, of Lorain, said the show was lovely.
“I really like the watercolors by Sandi Morse (artist from Vermilion),” she said. “She really does a great job. The prices are also very good. Something that is $200 here would be $350 at some fancy gallery.”
