Woman found after car goes into Lake Erie

A woman was taken to the hospital Nov. 25 after her vehicle allegedly went into Lake Erie.

A woman was taken to the hospital Nov. 25 after her vehicle allegedly went into Lake Erie.

Avon Lake police received a call at 9:27 p.m. from a witness stating a vehicle drove into the water at the Miller Road Park boat ramp, 33760 Lake Road, according to an Avon Lake police report.

An officer and a paramedic arrived on scene first to find a vehicle submerged in the water.

A scan of the surroundin­g water was done, and a female was located floating face down near the west end of the pier, according to the report.

The female was pulled from the water by the officer and paramedic and they performed CPR on her, the report said.

She was transporte­d to Cleveland Clinic in Avon where she was then transporte­d to MetroHealt­h in Cleveland by helicopter.

The vehicle was removed from the water and no other occupants were located.

Additional multiple department­s assisted from the Lorain County Dive Team.

The boat launch area was thoroughly checked by Lorain County Dive Team members using sonar and physically by dive team members.

No other people were located in the water.

This incident is under investigat­ion.
