Senior sociables to meet: St. Anthony Senior Sociables will meet at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Social Hall 1305 East Erie Ave., Lorain. The cost for members is $8. Community Messy Church Service: First United Methodist Church of Wellington, 127 Park Place, will be having a Community Messy Church Service from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 9. All are welcome.

Interfaith collaborat­ion: A free Interfaith Collaborat­ion, featuring The Cleveland Stake Choir from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints along with St. Joseph’s Parish in Avon Lake and Choral Spectrum of Lorain County will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at 25000 Westwood Road, Westlake.

Live Nativity: First Baptist Church of Sheffield Lake, 633 Harris Road, will hold a live nativity from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 22. All are invited to the outdoor live nativity representi­ng the story of Jesus’ birth. There will also be a petting zoo. Then, come inside to enjoy hot cocoa and decorate cookies you can take home. Christmas concert: Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road, Lorain, invites the community to join for a free Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 14. The Christmas concert is being put on by Re-Creation, a singing and dancing group of young people who travel the U.S. performing for veterans in the VA hospitals. ReCreation presents sparking, energetic profession­al entertainm­ent by nine exiting young performers who offer dynamic vocal renditions of classic Christmas music. Admission is free for this event but if you are able, we ask you bring a nonperisha­ble item or peanut butter for the church’s food pantry.

Meeting, Christmas party: St. Ann Lodge Br. 114 FCSLA will hold its annual meeting and Christmas party at 1 p.m. Dec. 16 at the American Slovak Club 2915 Broadway in Lorain. Remembranc­e service: Candles will glow on Dec. 9 when tens of thousands of bereaved parents, siblings, grandparen­ts, relatives and friends around the globe join together to light remembranc­e candles to honor the memories of children who have died but will never be forgotten. Unity Spiritual Center, 23855 Detroit Road, Westlake, will offer its fourth annual service of remembranc­e and healing during the holiday season for those who lost a loved one too soon. The service will begin at 6 p.m. and will continue to 8 p.m. with candle lighting at 7 p.m. This service will be free and open to all regardless of faith or no faith background. Forever Christmas: The Amherst Community Chorus will present “Forever Christmas” at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at St. Joseph social hall in Amherst. The program will feature popular children’s favorites such as Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph as well as traditiona­l religious carols like O Holy Night and Celtic Silent Night. Other seasonal favorites like Home For the Holidays and I’ll Be Home For Christmas are included as well as more popular songs like Do You Hear What I Hear, Mary Did you Know, and Believe from the Polar Express. The chorus concludes with And The Glory of the Lord and The Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah. Tickets are for sale only at the door for adults at $6, seniors at $5, students at $4 and children 5 and under are admitted free. Homemade refreshmen­ts after the concert are included in the price of the ticket. The chorus is beginning its 23rd year under the direction of Simone and Steve Gall.

Public invited to worship: Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville, invites the public to join in worship at 7:30 Wednesday evenings. No need to be a member; worship is open to everybody who just wants to take 30 minutes or so to recharge their spiritual batteries midway through the week.
