An Ohio State Highway Patrol warrant gives more details on a Dec. 2 crash that left a Lorain woman dead.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol warrant gives more details on a Dec. 2 crash that left a Lorain woman dead.

The warrant specifically asks Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Christopher R. Rothgery for authorization to search the white 1995 Chevrolet Suburban for trace evidence such as blood, DNA, skin cells, fibers and hairs as well as receipts or documents that identify the owner of the vehicle.

It also requests to take photos of the interior and exterior of the SUV.

Rothgery granted the warrant Dec. 5.

According to an affidavit attached to the warrant return form, says that the victim, 49-year-old Roslyn Arroyo, was crossing state Route 57 at the intersection with state Route 254 in Sheffield Township moving east at around 9 p.m.

A witness who was in the turning lane to turn west onto Route 254 observed a white SUV strike Arroyo while she was left northbound lane, the warrant says.

The witness said the driver of the SUV, which she described as a latemodel Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe, slowed and stopped for three to four seconds before continuing to travel northbound, the affidavit says.

Arroyo was pronounced dead later at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, according to a previous news release from the Highway Patrol.

Investigators collected evidence at the scene of the hit-skip, including car parts, which indicated the SUV may have been a Chevrolet Suburban from the 1990s, according to the affidavit.

Investigators checked various leads throughout Dec. 3 with no luck.

But late in the day, they learned a 37-year-old North Ridgeville woman had reported a white 1995 Chevrolet Suburban stolen from Elyria, the affidavit says.

On Dec. 4, the Lorain Police Department located the vehicle, with heavy frontend damage, parked at a business in the 1800 block of East 28th Street.

The SUV was identified as the one that killed Arroyo using surveillance camera footage from U-Haul, 41215 North Ridge Road in Elyria Township.

A previous release from the Highway Patrol, said a 41-year-old Elyria man is believed to have been driving the SUV. No one has been charged in the crash.
