Police investigate after shots fired, hitting residences

- Staff report

Lorain police are trying to determine who is responsible for multiple bullet holes found Dec. 19 in residences.

Officers responded at 1:40 a.m. for a woman who said her home, in the 1500 block of East 29th Street, had been shot at, according to a Lorain police report.

The woman stated she was lying down when she heard several gunshots.

She then saw some of the drywall from the bedroom coming off the walls.

The lights were turned on in the residence revealing bullet holes in walls and door frames, according to the report.

One of the windows, located on the south side of the residence, had a large hole in it.

Outside in the street adjacent to the parking lot of this residence, police found 19 spent 40-caliber casings.

These were gathered and placed into a temporary locker, the report said.

Another resident said he saw bullets coming into his residence, but he did not have any idea who was shooting, according to the report.

He also did not see or hear a vehicle leaving the scene.

There was a window that was opened on the western end of the residence where some additional spent casings were located out on the floor.

Four vehicles in the lot also were damaged from the shooting.

A neighbor of the resident also told police her house was shot at, and showed them a window with a large hole in it.

She also pointed to a screen door that had been shattered and a bullet that was embedded in the metal door behind it, the release said.

There are no suspects at this time.
