Lorain man leads police on chase

A Lorain man was charged Dec. 21 with a slew of drug related crimes following a car chase with police officers.

Terrence L. Taylor, 45, is facing charges of possession of crack cocaine, a third-degree felony, two counts possession of powder cocaine and one count of fentanyl possession, both fifth-degree felonies, operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI), OVI-refusal, driving under suspension and failure to comply, all first-degree misdemeanors, resisting arrest and obstruction official business, both second-degree misdemeanors, possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless operation, both fourth-degree misdemeanors, and possession of marijuana and a stop sign violation, both minor misdemeanors, according to an Elyria police report.

An officer attempted to pull over Taylor’s vehicle, a silver 2017 Nissan Altima, at 2:45 a.m. at the intersection of Foster Avenue and Furnace Street for traffic violations, the report said.

The chase continued on Foster until Taylor turned west onto Monroe Street and parked his car in a driveway.

The officer exited his vehicle to conduct the traffic stop, but had to retreat as Taylor reversed his vehicle, heading back toward Furnace, the report said.

Officers temporarily lost the vehicle, but it was relocated on Broad Street near Water Street.

Taylor turned onto the 800 block of Water Street, exited the vehicle and pounded on the door of a house, according to the report, He was hit with a stun gun and taken to the ground by an officer, before being arrested, the report said.

Officers said Taylor possessed marijuana, a 4.2 gram bag of cocaine, a 15.3 gram bag of crack cocaine and $849.

A search of the vehicle yielded a 0.2 gram bag of cocaine, a digital scale and fentanyl, according to the report.

Taylor, who is in the Lorain County Jail on a $306,750 bond, must appear at 2 p.m. Dec. 27 before Elyria Municipal Court Judge Robert C. White.
