Choir to perform: The chancel choir of Fields United Methodist Church is providing a special day of music and celebration with the choral cantata “Joy, Unspeakable Joy” at both the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services on Dec. 22. The choir is directed by Hailey Ackerman and accompanied by Judy Pomeroy. Fields UMC is located at 34077 Lorain Rd., North Ridgeville and is fully accessible.
Live nativity: First Baptist Church of Sheffield Lake, 633 Harris Road, will hold a live nativity from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 22. People are invited to an outdoor live nativity representing the story of Jesus’ birth. There will also be a petting zoo. Visitors can enjoy hot cocoa and decorate cookies to take home. The first 100 vehicles will receive a free car magnet commemorating the birth of Christ. For more information, call 440-949-6398. Services planned: Avon United Methodist Church, 37711 Detroit Road, will hold the following services — Christmas Eve Services, 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 24; and Sunday Worship Services, 9 and 10:30 a.m. Special service: The congregation of Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville, is providing a special service to help members of the community deal with the sometimes hectic holiday season. On Dec. 23, Fields will provide a Blue Christmas Service of Remembrance and Hope at 7 p.m. This special service of remembrance of the ones we have lost, providing hope and assurance that the Lord is with us at those difficult times and longs for our healing. Fields UM Church is located 2 1⁄2 miles west of Interstate 480/ Route 10, and 3 miles east of Route 83 on Lorain Road. New Year’s Eve service: Point of Grace Ministries, Inc., will hold a New Year’s Eve worship service at 10 p.m. Dec. 31 at 6892 Lake Ave., Elyria. Pastors Darrell and Prophetess VaNessa Young will celebrate. For more information, call 440324-1210.

Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville, invites the public to join in worship at 7:30 Wednesday evenings. No need to be a member; worship is open to everybody who just wants to take 30 minutes or so to recharge their spiritual batteries midway through the week.
