Pajama party!
JVS Early Childhood Education event benefits Genesis House
The Lorain County JVS Early Childhood Education FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) Chapter recently hosted a Pajama Party to benefit Genesis House of Lorain County.
Children in the Lorain County JVS 3- and 4-yearold preschool classes and those of JVS staff were invited to wear their pajamas for the evening for this fun event.
Hilary Duffala, Early Childhood Education instructor, felt the night was a great success.
“We had 45 children come for the event this year! The place was packed,” said Duffala. “The ages of the children ranged from 14 months to 12 years old and we had something fun for everyone.”
The children enjoyed a simple dinner and took part in numerous hands-on activities that included cookie decorating, ornament making, a special story time and movie.
The cost of the evening’s event was simply a new pair of pajamas.
Fifty-eight pairs of pajamas were collected and will be donated to Genesis House, to be used in their facility.
Angelina Fracchione, a junior from Oberlin, and Breana Caldwell, junior from Clearview, had a great time at the event and even learned a little too.
“It was great. We had so much fun,” Caldwell said.
“Seeing all the different age groups was really interesting,” Fracchione said. “We are used to having 4and 5-year-olds in our preschool, but this event allowed us to experience a little baby that was only 14 months old, as well as a twelve year old, and seeing how the different ages work together and learn differently was really cool,” she added.
