Lorain County Scholastic Art Exhibit to begin
The 51st annual Lorain County Region Scholastic Art Exhibit presented by Nordson Corp. is set for Jan. 14 through Feb. 22 at Lorain County Community College’s Beth K. Stocker Art Gallery in the Stocker Art Center, 1005 N.Abbe Road in Elyria.
This exhibit draws from public, parochial and private middle and high schools from Lorain, Erie and Huron counties, according to a news release.
Art teachers enter more than 1,400 original works of art from student artists each year.
Professional judges then choose up to 800 pieces of art that are hung salonstyle in the art gallery, the release said.
“This exhibit is one of our most popular of the year, amazing visitors with the diversity and talent of student artists in our region,” said Beth Bryan, Stocker Arts Center operations coordinator, in the release.
The categories of art include architecture, ceramics, glass, comic art, design, digital, drawing, illustration, editorial cartoon, fashion design, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, video game design and senior portfolio, according to the release.
“We are extremely thankful to Nordson Corp. for its continuing support and sponsorship of this exceptional program and exhibit,” Bryan said.
