Four suspects arrested for allegedly forging a check
Four Cuyahoga County residents were arrested Feb. 12 and are facing felony charges after they allegedly attempted to pass a bad check at a North Ridgeville bank.
Makailah S. Cleaves, 20, of Cleveland, was charged with complicity, a fifth-degree felony, and a first-degree misdemeanor charge of complicity, according to a North Ridgeville police report.
Robert A. Grant Jr., 22, of Cleveland, was charged with complicity, a fifth-degree felony, operating a vehicle without a valid license and complicity, both first-degree misdemeanors, and possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor.
Reginald K. Laughlin, 20, of Cleveland, was charged with forgery, a fifth-degree felony, receiving stolen property and passing bad checks, both first-degree misdemeanors.
Khalyl T. Wadley, 24, of Cleveland Heights, was charged with complicity and receiving stolen property, falsification and complicity, both first-degree misdemeanors, and resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor.
Officers responded at 2:04 p.m. to Huntington Bank, 35621 Center Ridge Road, after Laughlin attempted to pass bad checks and was caught in the act, according to the release.
Detectives said Cleaves, Grant and Wadley were coconspirators and were arrested.
Wadley initially tried to run from police, but was caught and secured in handcuffs, according to North Ridgeville Capt. Mari Garrow.
The suspects were transported to the Lorain County Jail.
Cleaves was released on a $6,000 bond, Grant on a $7,230 bond and Laughlin on a $7,000 bond.
Wadley is in the County Jail on a $5,250 bond.
Court officials have not set hearing dates for the suspects.
