The artwork of residents of Wesleyan Village and Wesleyan Meadows will be showcased at 78th Street Studios, Cleveland’s largest art complex, from now through April. The art complex is located at 1300 W. 78th St. Encompassing a wide variety of media and styles, the display will feature over 100 pieces ranging from paintings and photography, to three-dimensional creations made by the residents of the nonprofit senior living communities located in Elyria and Sheffield Village, according to a news release. “Part of our mission is to encourage older adults to age successfully by growing socially, intellectually, physically and spiritually – and one of the ways we do that, is to offer opportunities for our residents to be involved in creating artwork,” said Lori Black, senior marketing coordinator of Wesleyan Meadows. “This event will not only provide an occasion for people to enjoy the beautiful artwork of our residents, it may also bring a greater awareness of how beneficial it is, physically and mentally, for people to be artistically creative.” The display will be part of Third Fridays, Ohio’s biggest “art walk,” the release said. The indoor walk will take up 78th Street Studios’ 170,000-square-foot historic venue with 50 plus studios and galleries, according to the art complex’s website. Up to 30 local guest artists are featured each month, showcasing their fine art and handmade crafts from January till December, the website said. Occurring on the third Friday of each month from 5 to 9 p.m., the open-house art walk event — voted “Cleveland’s Best Arts Event” — is free of charge and includes food, drink, music, dozens of gallery exhibits, shopping and socializing, the release said.
