Titans ranked fourth in state hoops poll

The Lorain boys basketball team is ranked fourth in this week’s Associated Press Division I state poll. See where the rest of Ohio stacks up in all four divisions.

Meghan Newton added another 3-pointer to cut it to 32-31 with 3:30 remaining. But Lorain made the timely plays. “This helps our confidence because nobody thought we were going to win,” Hisle added. “So my team got the win and that’s what I like.” Senior Kaeli Evins led Midview (7-16) with 11 points and 10 rebounds. “We are still a very young team,” Midview coach Rob Overy said. “I think the girls don’t feel like that because they’ve been playing varsity basketball. But we need to be in more situations like that so they can answer.” Coach Overy added the Middies’ future looks bright. Hisle. They cracked Midview’s zone and remained poised down the stretch. “We were very patient,” Lorain coach Mark Feldmann said. “They were in that zone for a long time and we took our time. Ashley stepped up and Imani made a big shot. We made baskets when we needed to. This is a good win and now we got a beast waiting for us (Olmsted Falls). It’ll be David vs. Goliath.”

“I made it optional for the freshmen to stick around our team and they were dressed sitting on our bench in a tournament game,” Overy said. “They were very key to our practice and we have great shooters.
