Man indicted on child pornograph­y charges

An Elyria man was indicted in federal court on child pornograph­y charges, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio.

Brian Louk, 58, was charged with receiving, distributi­ng and possessing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Louk knowingly received and distribute­d numerous computer files which contained minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to the release.

The indictment said Louk committed the crimes between Aug. 6 and Dec. 10, 2018.

Louk also possessed a computer t hat contained child pornograph­y on or about Jan. 18 of this year, the release said.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Carol M. Skutnik is prosecutin­g the case while the FBI’s Child Exploitati­on Task Force investigat­ed.

On Jan. 18, the Elyria Police Department arrested Louk and charged him with 17 counts of pandering sexually oriented materials involving a minor, a second degree-felony, according to an Elyria police news release.

The charges were dismissed Jan. 28, according to court records.

Elyria police detectives, FBI agents and Internet Crimes against Children investigat­ors executed a search warrant at Louk’s house, 114 Homer Court, during a child pornograph­y investigat­ion, the release said.

Detectives found numerous video and still images of adolescent­s and toddlers engaged in sexual activity with adults, according to the release.

Louk admitted to detectives he was responsibl­e for downloadin­g the images to his computer, police said.
