Trump helping us in spite of Congress

RINO (Jonah) Goldberg has again attacked President Trump and again Goldberg is way off the mark (Opinion 2/20/19). Goldberg is correct in stating that “Powerful presidents enact their agenda through Congress.” But the leaders in Congress in the past have accepted that the president is legitimate — not so in the case of Donald Trump. (Nancy) Pelosi, (Chuck) Schumer and their lock step followers do not accept the results of the 2016 election. They don’t consider Trump to be a legitimate president. They don’t care about the needs of our country. Their primary purpose and effort is to get rid of Trump at any cost. “In the last two years, ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of aliens with criminal records including those charged or convicted of 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes, and 4,000 violent killings. Over the years, thousands of Americans have been brutally killed by those who illegally entered our country and thousands more lives will be lost if we don’t act,” Trump said in his State of the Union. And this is not a crisis? Not a national emergency? The Democrats and some Republicans in Congress refuse to address this problem as the emergency it is because to do so would support our president. The wall that the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol says we need and that the Democrats approved before is now immoral. The politicians and media that are making this a political win or lose situation insult the people suffering drug overdose deaths, human trafficking, the assaults, sex crimes, and homicides. We are losing because Congress would not help us. We have a strong president who is helping us in spite of them. Don Race New London
