A 35-year-old man will pay $100 in fines for posting social media threats against Lorain City Schools.

A 35-year-old man will pay $100 in fines for posting social media threats against Lorain City Schools, according to Lorain Municipal Court records. Brandon R. Green, of North Ridgeville, also must serve two years of intensive supervised probation for his actions of Feb. 20, according to court records. On March 7, Green pleaded no contest and was found guilty of a misdemeano­r charged of inducing panic by threatenin­g to commit a violent act, court records show. Visiting Judge Christophe­r Rewak sentenced Green to pay $500 in fines, with $400 suspended, and 180 days in jail, with 165 days suspended and credit for 15 days served in jail, according to the court ruling. Green also will have a drug and alcohol assessment March 15 and a review hearing May 10, according to court records. No one was hurt, but police mobilized Feb. 20, when the Lorain Police Department began receiving tips on its anonymous tip line regarding disturbing posts on Facebook, according to a Lorain police news release. The tips were from the Facebook identity of Brandon Green regarding a post telling people, “Do Not Send Kids to School in Lorain,” the release said. The posts were followed up with “I’m gonna shoot them all 100% and yes when asked if he was going to shoot kids.” Lorain police responded by immediatel­y deploying officers to all the schools and activating the U.S. Marshal Task Force.
